What makes 2 X 2 by Milli Vanilli notable?

'2 X 2' is significant for solidifying Milli Vanilli's place in late '80s pop culture, featuring hits that dominated the Billboard Hot 100. However, the album's reception was later overshadowed by the lip-syncing scandal that led to Grammy disqualification, altering perceptions of authenticity in the music industry. Released in January 1989, '2 X 2' followed Milli Vanilli’s massive commercial success with their debut album 'Girl You Know It’s True'. At this point in their career, they were riding high on the charts but faced increasing scrutiny regarding their authenticity as performers.
