What makes Beth/Rest by Bon Iver notable?

'Beth/Rest' is notable for its innovative use of synthesizers and layered textures, which marked a departure from the acoustic roots of Bon Iver's earlier music. The album received widespread acclaim, appearing on numerous year-end lists and solidifying Bon Iver's place within the indie folk movement while influencing a wave of artists embracing non-traditional sounds. Released on January 1, 2012, 'Beth/Rest' is Bon Iver's follow-up to their critically acclaimed self-titled album from 2011.
