It sparked discussions around authenticity in indie music and represented a moment of reinvention for Phair, influencing a generation of artists who sought to blur genre lines. By the time Liz Phair released Funstyle in 2010, she was navigating a complex career trajectory marked by commercial success and critical pushback.
