His work resonates deeply within the global jazz community, inspiring both musicians and listeners to explore the emotional depths of improvisation while remaining connected to their cultural roots. In an era where authenticity often feels elusive, Cohen's commitment to his heritage and musical identity encourages a more profound engagement with jazz as a living, breathing art form. Cohen approaches music with a holistic mindset, intertwining his virtuosic bass playing with rich harmonic textures and intricate melodies that reflect his multifaceted influences. By blending traditional jazz elements with Middle Eastern motifs, he creates a sonic landscape that invites introspection and connection. This innovative approach not only reinvigorates the genre but also opens avenues for collaboration across diverse musical languages, encouraging a sense of unity in creative exploration. His songwriting often traverses themes of love, loss, and cultural identity, marked by an introspective tone that balances sincerity with subtle irony. Cohen's narratives unfold through expressive instrumental passages as much as through lyrical content, favoring impressionistic storytelling that evokes feelings rather than adhering strictly to literal interpretations. The result is music that feels profoundly personal yet universally relatable.
