Her work transcends mere instrumentation; it serves as both a reflection and an expansion of jazz traditions, inviting listeners to engage with the music on a deeply emotional level. By emphasizing the harp—a historically underrepresented instrument in jazz—Younger challenges preconceived notions of what jazz sounds like today and who gets to play it, creating a more inclusive space for diverse musical expressions. Her approach blends improvisation with meticulous composition, allowing her to explore complex textures while maintaining a sense of fluidity. This duality enables her music to feel both intimate and expansive, pulling from a rich palette of influences without being confined to any single one. Each performance is a journey where experimentation meets elegance, drawing out new possibilities in familiar forms. Younger's songwriting often revolves around themes of identity, resilience, and connection, delivered through a voice that balances sincerity with nuance. Her storytelling unfolds through rich imagery and evocative phrasing, encouraging listeners to reflect on their own experiences while immersing themselves in the sonic tapestry she weaves.
