His work has not only influenced a generation of musicians but also expanded the possibilities of how electric violin can be used as a lead instrument in genres traditionally dominated by guitar or keyboard. By blending elements from various musical traditions, he has created a space that feels both exploratory and accessible, offering listeners a chance to experience complex musical dialogues. His approach involves a masterful interplay between technical precision and free-spirited creativity. Goodman often utilizes extended techniques on the violin, allowing for a range of expressive sounds that push beyond typical melodic lines. This innovation encourages an interactive listening experience, where each performance can feel like a fresh conversation between the artist and his audience, characterized by spontaneity and a willingness to venture into uncharted territories. In his songwriting, Goodman frequently navigates themes of introspection and emotional depth while melding storytelling with impressionistic imagery. His instrumental pieces often evoke vivid landscapes and moods without relying on words, inviting listeners to interpret the music through their own experiences. The tone shifts between serene contemplation and fervent energy, reflecting the complexities of human emotion and thought.
