About Kokoroko

Kokoroko matters as a beacon of contemporary London’s vibrant music scene, capturing the essence of cultural fusion through their intricate sounds that reverberate with a sense of community and belonging.

Their work stands as a testament to the city's diverse heritage, merging elements of jazz, Afrobeats, and soul to create an auditory experience that resonates deeply with both local and global audiences. This collaborative spirit has inspired a new generation of musicians to explore their own identities and narratives, fostering a collective movement that celebrates multiculturalism. The band’s approach hinges on live performance and improvisation, where each member contributes their unique voice while remaining attuned to the collective energy of the group. This dynamic allows them to weave spontaneous moments into their arrangements, capturing the interplay between structure and free expression. By prioritizing organic soundscapes over polished production, Kokoroko crafts a musical environment that feels both intimate and expansive, inviting listeners to engage in a shared journey. In their songwriting, Kokoroko often explores themes of love, community, and cultural identity with an earnestness that blends storytelling with impressionistic imagery. Their tone reflects warmth and sincerity, often employing rich instrumentation to evoke emotions rather than relying solely on lyrics. This approach creates a tapestry of sound where meaning emerges not just from words but from the very act of listening itself.
