By marrying traditional folk narratives with contemporary sensibilities, she has expanded the boundaries of what folk can express, making space for new interpretations and emotional depths that engage listeners from various backgrounds. Prior's approach is characterized by a deep reverence for storytelling, blending history with personal reflection. Her performances often embody a communal spirit, inviting audiences to connect not just with the music but also with one another. This interactive quality transforms live shows into shared experiences, reinforcing folk music's role as a vessel for community connection and collective memory. Lyrically, Prior often explores themes of resilience, love, and the human experience, employing a storytelling style that balances sincerity with poetic nuance. Her tone shifts between the introspective and the celebratory, crafting songs that resonate with both heartache and joy. This duality allows her to connect on multiple levels, making each song feel like a conversation rather than a mere performance.
