About Skegss

Skegss matters as a significant voice in the contemporary surf rock scene, capturing the raw energy and carefree spirit of youth culture while also addressing deeper themes of identity and belonging.

Their music resonates with a generation seeking both escapism and authenticity, making them an essential part of the ongoing conversation around what it means to be young and restless in today's world. The band's approach is marked by a DIY ethos that embraces spontaneity and authenticity, often recorded in informal settings that reflect their laid-back lifestyle. This unpolished aesthetic allows for a sense of immediacy, creating an atmosphere where each note feels like a fresh burst of enthusiasm. Skegss navigates between playful melodies and gritty instrumentation, forging connections between classic surf sounds and modern punk sensibilities. Lyrically, Skegss often explores themes of youthful rebellion, friendship, and the struggle for self-discovery against a backdrop of sun-soaked beaches and suburban landscapes. Their storytelling balances sincerity with a sense of irony, reflecting the contradictions inherent in their experiences. The tone ranges from celebratory to introspective, inviting listeners to engage deeply with both the highs and lows of adolescence.
