About The Necks

The Necks occupy a unique space in the sonic landscape, carving out a niche that challenges conventional expectations of jazz and improvisation.

Their work matters not just for its musicianship but for the way it invites listeners to engage with time and sound in an introspective manner.

Their work matters not just for its musicianship but for the way it invites listeners to engage with time and sound in an introspective manner. As a trio, they create immersive experiences that encourage deep listening, transforming live performance into a meditative journey rather than a mere showcase of technical skill. Employing a minimalist approach, The Necks often eschew rigid structures in favor of extended improvisations that evolve organically. This method fosters a sense of exploration; each performance feels like an invitation to navigate the spaces between notes and rhythms, where silence holds as much weight as sound. Their ability to build tension and release it gradually allows for an almost hypnotic quality, engaging audiences in a shared experience of discovery. Lyrically sparse, their music leans heavily on mood and atmosphere rather than narrative storytelling. Themes of nature, time, and existence emerge through subtle shifts in tone and texture, often allowing listeners to project their own interpretations onto the unfolding soundscape. The interplay between sincerity and abstraction creates a reflective space where emotions resonate deeply despite the absence of words.
