What makes Affectionate by Venetian Snares notable?

'Affectionate' received attention for its bold experimentation within the breakcore genre, showcasing a more melodic approach compared to Funk’s earlier works. Critics noted its ability to appeal to both hardcore fans and newcomers alike, contributing to ongoing discussions about the evolution of electronic music in the early 2010s. By the time 'Affectionate' was released in 2012, Venetian Snares, led by Aaron Funk, had established themselves as a prominent figure in the breakcore scene with a series of innovative albums. This EP followed the critically acclaimed 'Filth' and marked a continuation of Funk's exploration of unconventional rhythms and samples while maintaining his signature chaotic style.
