What makes Celebrity by Barenaked Ladies notable?

Celebrity received mixed reviews but was notable for its exploration of celebrity culture and media scrutiny, which resonated with listeners during a time of heightened public fascination with fame. The lead single 'Celebrity' achieved commercial success, charting well in Canada and contributing to the band's ongoing influence within the pop rock genre. Released in 2004, Celebrity marked a transitional phase for Barenaked Ladies as their first studio album after their self-imposed hiatus in 2003.
