What makes King Kong Groover by Babylon Zoo notable?

King Kong Groover showcased Babylon Zoo's unique fusion of genres, but it did not achieve the same commercial success as their debut, peaking only at number 45 on the UK Albums Chart. Despite this, its experimental sound contributed to the late '90s alternative rock scene and garnered mixed reviews from critics, highlighting the band's innovative approach. Released in early 1999, King Kong Groover was Babylon Zoo's second studio album, following the success of their debut, The Boy with the X-Ray Eyes. This album arrived during a period when the band was attempting to build on their initial popularity, which had peaked with their 1996 single Spaceman.
