What makes Propaganda by The Sound notable?

Propaganda received critical attention for its exploration of socio-political themes in a post-Britpop landscape, reflecting on the music industry's commercialization. While it did not achieve significant commercial success, it garnered accolades from niche critics and has since been noted for its influence on subsequent alternative rock acts seeking to blend political commentary with melodic sensibilities. Released in 1999, Propaganda marked The Sound's return after a decade-long hiatus since their last studio album, which was a period filled with lineup changes and evolving musical landscapes. This album showcased their attempt to reinvigorate their sound while addressing contemporary themes, aligning with the band's original ethos from the late '70s.
