Their sound not only broadened the audience for jazz by integrating elements of rock and funk but also inspired countless musicians to explore the uncharted territory between improvisation and structured composition, altering the landscape of contemporary music. The band’s approach to performance is marked by a fearless experimentation with technology and rhythm, utilizing synthesizers and electric instruments to create a soundscape that challenges traditional jazz conventions. By embracing a more aggressive interplay among members, they foster an environment where spontaneity reigns; each performance can morph into an entirely new experience, pushing the limits of their musical dialogue. Their songwriting often reflects themes of exploration and discovery, articulated through a blend of intricate melodies and complex harmonies. The tone ranges from playful to introspective, striking a balance between sincerity and irony, while storytelling often takes on a more impressionistic quality. This allows listeners to engage with the music on multiple levels, interpreting the sounds in ways that resonate personally.
