His music often serves as a dialogue between tradition and personal expression, pushing the boundaries of what contemporary jazz can embody while remaining rooted in its rich history. Costa's approach focuses on layering intricate piano lines with subtle electronic textures, inviting listeners into a space where improvisation and composition merge. He navigates the delicate balance of spontaneity and structure, crafting pieces that feel simultaneously free and anchored. This innovative touch invites musicians and audiences alike to engage in a shared exploration, fostering a sense of community around live performances. Thematically, Costa often reflects on the interplay of silence and sound, weaving narratives that linger in the listener’s mind long after the final note fades. His writing style leans towards impressionistic storytelling, using nuanced tones to evoke emotions rather than detailing explicit narratives. This creates an atmosphere where each performance feels like a fresh conversation, full of sincerity and introspection.
