His interpretations not only honor the historical significance of the works he performs but also imbue them with a sense of immediacy and relevance that resonates with today’s audiences, inviting a deeper emotional engagement. Lu approaches his craft with a combination of meticulous technical skill and deeply felt artistry. He often emphasizes the subtleties of phrasing and dynamics, transforming pieces into intimate dialogues rather than grand proclamations. This nuanced approach creates an atmosphere where each performance feels like a unique conversation, drawing in listeners who might otherwise feel disconnected from classical music. His songwriting—while rooted in interpretation rather than original composition—tends to explore themes of longing, introspection, and the passage of time. Lu's voice is one of sincerity, balancing emotional depth with clarity, allowing the nuances of each piece to shine through without overshadowing their inherent beauty. Each performance has a storytelling quality, as he navigates the emotional landscapes embedded within the scores.
