Her music resonates with an audience eager for authenticity, allowing listeners to sit with their feelings while experiencing the profound connection that comes from shared musical moments. Skjerve's approach is marked by an innovative blend of traditional jazz elements and contemporary influences, using improvisation as a way to reflect her internal landscape. This process invites spontaneity not just in the instrumentation but in her vocal delivery, allowing each performance to breathe and evolve in real-time. The result is a captivating dialogue between performer and audience, encouraging deeper engagement and reflection. Common lyrical themes in Skjerve’s work revolve around self-discovery, longing, and the complexities of human relationships. Her writing often takes an impressionistic tone, painting vivid emotional snapshots rather than straightforward narratives, which engages listeners on a visceral level. There's a sincerity in her voice that balances irony, inviting reflection without losing touch with raw emotion.
