As a drummer, he has challenged traditional notions of timekeeping and improvisation, engaging listeners with a visceral approach that often feels both instinctive and cerebral. His contributions have not only influenced fellow musicians but also sparked curiosity in audiences who find joy in exploring the unexpected paths that rhythm can take. Baron's process is marked by an intuitive interplay between structure and spontaneity. He often creates a sense of tension through unconventional time signatures and polyrhythms, inviting other players into a fluid musical dialogue that challenges the very foundation of jazz as a strictly notated art form. This innovative approach allows for an expansive interpretation of sound that transcends typical genre boundaries, making each performance a distinctive experience. In his songwriting, Baron frequently explores themes of movement and transformation, using rhythm as a narrative device rather than just a backdrop. His tone balances sincerity and playfulness, with an emphasis on storytelling that invites listeners to engage deeply with the emotional undercurrents in his music. Often employing impressionistic elements, he crafts auditory landscapes that evoke imagery while maintaining a raw honesty in expression.
