His work has contributed to the evolution of progressive rock, expanding its boundaries and reshaping its narrative approach to music by emphasizing atmospheric exploration over traditional song structures. This shift has encouraged listeners to embrace a more immersive experience when engaging with instrumental music, often leading them to reflect on their own internal worlds. Watkins embraces a meticulous approach to composition, where he marries electronic elements with organic instrumentation, creating rich tapestries of sound that feel both expansive and intimate. His innovative use of synthesizers alongside traditional instruments blurs the lines between genres, inviting a diverse audience into his auditory realm. Each piece is crafted with careful attention to layering and texture, transforming simple melodies into complex emotional journeys that resonate in unexpected ways.
