His unique ability to create immersive soundscapes has not only shaped the genre but also opened pathways for deeper emotional engagement, inviting audiences into contemplative states that reflect the complexities of existence. Embracing a meditative approach, Laraaji often employs unconventional instruments like the zither and electric kalimba, layering these sounds to craft rich textures that oscillate between serenity and vibrancy. This innovative use of instrumentation, coupled with his focus on live performance as a means of communal experience, fosters an environment where spontaneity thrives, allowing each session to become a unique encounter with sound. In his songwriting, Laraaji frequently explores themes of spirituality, healing, and cosmic connection, often adopting an impressionistic style that evokes feelings rather than recounts concrete narratives.
