His music serves as a quiet counterpoint to the fast-paced noise of contemporary life, inviting listeners into a world that feels both intimate and expansive. By embracing orchestral arrangements and lush instrumentation, Hayes creates a sonic landscape that enriches the narrative depth of his work. His approach often involves layering sounds with a careful touch, allowing moments of silence to breathe alongside the melodies. This deliberate pacing not only accentuates the poignancy of his lyrics but also showcases a willingness to embrace subtlety over grandiosity. Each note feels intentional, crafting an immersive experience that encourages deeper listening and reflection. In his songwriting, Hayes frequently navigates themes of love, longing, and existential musings with a voice that balances sincerity and irony. His storytelling tends to evoke vivid imagery while maintaining an impressionistic quality, drawing listeners into a contemplative state. The tone is often wistful yet grounded, inviting vulnerability in its lyrical exploration without tipping into sentimentality.
