His work has influenced a generation of artists, pushing the sonic envelope and redefining what dance music can achieve in live settings. By creating a sound that resonates with both pulsating beats and layered samples, he has transformed how listeners engage with rhythm-driven music. His innovative approach centers on a meticulous blend of samples and live instrumentation, creating an intoxicating energy that permeates his tracks. Howlett often utilizes a powerful, driving beat as the backbone of his compositions, layering intricate synth lines and aggressive bass to create an immersive soundscape. This method not only energizes audiences but also invites them to lose themselves in the rhythm. In terms of songwriting, Howlett frequently explores themes of escapism and rebellion, channeling the raw energy of rave culture into his tracks. His voice balances irony and sincerity; the lyrics serve as a reflection of both the euphoria and chaos inherent in nightlife experiences. Rather than traditional storytelling, he opts for impressionistic snapshots that evoke visceral emotions and collective memories.
