Her music matters because it challenges listeners to reimagine the possibilities of rock; the intricate melodies and percussive strumming create a space where complexity coexists with vulnerability, encouraging a deeper exploration of sound. Stern's process is marked by a fearless embrace of unconventional techniques, often layering intricate guitar work over energetic rhythms. This innovative approach not only showcases her virtuosic skills but also invites a sense of immediacy and urgency into her music. By blending intense riffs with experimental structures, she crafts an immersive experience that feels both personal and expansive. Lyrically, Stern frequently delves into themes of identity, introspection, and existential questioning, often adopting a candid voice that resonates with sincerity. Her storytelling tends to oscillate between detailed imagery and impressionistic snippets, exploring the tension between light and dark with a playful yet earnest tone. This blend of directness and abstraction allows listeners to engage on multiple levels, eliciting both reflection and connection.
