The band's approach to songwriting emphasizes a meticulous crafting of sound and narrative, often layering rich guitar textures over driving rhythms. This sonic architecture supports a lyrical depth that invites listeners to engage with their own experiences while navigating the complexities of life. Their performances often mirror this intensity, creating an immersive atmosphere that enhances the communal experience of their music. Lyrically, Nine Lashes frequently explores themes of hope, faith, and personal transformation, employing a sincere voice that balances vulnerability with strength. Their storytelling approach often oscillates between direct reflection and impressionistic imagery, allowing for both personal resonance and broader interpretation.
