About Poison Girls

Poison Girls emerged as a formidable voice within the anarcho-punk movement, challenging societal norms and expectations through their raw energy and unapologetic stance.

Their music resonated with a generation disillusioned by political apathy and social injustice, creating a space where anger, resistance, and empowerment could thrive.

Their music resonated with a generation disillusioned by political apathy and social injustice, creating a space where anger, resistance, and empowerment could thrive. By intertwining personal narratives with broader political critiques, they offered an essential counter-narrative to mainstream culture. Their approach is marked by a fierce DIY ethic and an emphasis on communal experience, often utilizing art as a tool for activism. This collective spirit invites listeners not just to consume the music but to engage with it—whether at raucous live performances or through their fanzine contributions, which blurred the lines between music and grassroots organizing. Rather than adhering strictly to musical conventions, Poison Girls crafted sounds that reflected their ideals, using dissonance and urgency to convey emotional truths. Lyrically, they frequently explore themes of identity, rebellion, and social alienation, employing a confrontational tone that mingles sincerity with irony. Their storytelling approach often oscillates between visceral personal experiences and broader societal commentary, inviting listeners to reflect on their own realities while fostering a sense of solidarity in dissent.
