About Poster Children

Poster Children matter for their role in shaping the landscape of alternative rock, a scene that thrived on the edges of mainstream music in the '90s.

They carved out a niche that resonated with listeners seeking authenticity and raw energy, delivering a sound that merged catchy melodies with an undercurrent of punk ethos, ultimately influencing a generation of bands who sought to balance accessibility with rebellious spirit. Their approach to music is both collaborative and innovative, marked by a DIY ethos that permeates their recording and performance practices. This commitment to maintaining creative control allowed them to experiment freely within their sonic framework, crafting songs that blend tight instrumentation with spontaneous bursts of energy. The band's willingness to explore themes relevant to their experiences fosters a sense of urgency and sincerity in their work, making their live shows an immersive experience that reflects their ethos. Lyrically, Poster Children often delve into themes of disillusionment, identity, and societal critique, conveying these ideas through a voice that balances irony with heartfelt sincerity. Their storytelling tends to be impressionistic rather than linear, using vivid imagery and relatable scenarios that resonate on personal and collective levels. The tone shifts between playful and serious, inviting listeners into a world that feels simultaneously familiar and challenging.
