Her powerful voice and infectious rhythms played a significant role in shaping the sound of the late '70s, making her an essential presence in both clubs and radio playlists, where joy and liberation intertwined with every spin of her records. Her approach combines energetic melodies with irresistible grooves, often underpinned by lush arrangements that invite movement. By harnessing the euphoric essence of disco while incorporating elements of boogie, she crafted tracks that were not just songs but sonic experiences meant to elevate and energize audiences on the dance floor. This focus on rhythm and atmosphere transformed how artists approached dance music, emphasizing the importance of creating a communal experience through sound. Charles frequently explores themes of love, desire, and celebration in her songwriting, often employing a straightforward yet passionate tone that resonates with listeners. Her lyrics tend to balance sincerity with an infectious playfulness, crafting narratives that are both relatable and exhilarating.
